You can work on downsizing while giving back and helping others. Many of my clients are in the process of downsizing their home. In trying to assist clients with easy downsizing, I’ve had a chance to partner with the Cerebral Palsy Association of Alberta.
Donate Your Gently Used Items
The Cerebral Palsy Association does fundraising for their programs through their donation of used items program. You can gather your gently used clothing, small household items, small electronics, books and other items that you no longer need. Place in the green Cerebral Palsy Association bags available from Edmonton55 or use garbage or recycle bags.
When your bagged items are ready, call 1-888-477-8030 to schedule your curb side pick up in Edmonton. You can also go online at http://www.donatetocpalberta.com/ to schedule your pick up. If you live outside Edmonton, you can arrange to drop off your items to drop off points in surrounding communities.
The Cerebral Palsy Association sells the items to an organization. This organization ensures items get sold in thrift shops, recycled or provided to third world countries. Less than 5% of items end up in landfill. Your donations help fund programs offered by the Cerebral Palsy Association for those with disabilities of all ages.
The following are items you CANNOT include in your donations:
· hazardous materials · construction materials · weapons · appliances · automotive supplies · mattresses · box springs · stereo consoles · televisions · car seats · swing sets · cribs · carpet · newspapers · food items
Edmonton55 and Cerebral Palsy Association Partnership
I partnered with the Cerebral Palsy Association since much of my work on accessibility for seniors relates with the population they serve as well. I believe strongly when we build a community suitable for aging and mobility issues, it creates a community suitable for all ages.
To help your downsizing while giving back, you can request your oversized green bag from Edmonton55. Simply email me with your name and your mailing address and I’ll get a bag in the mail for you to use! When filled, call the Cerebral Palsy Association to arrange the pick up!
